In this 4-week course, we will explore how to interpret nature, landscape and images. Simplifying the complexities of landscape, focusing on shape and values, I will demonstrate and guide participants to bring forms through out-of-the-box processes.

Emphasis on drawing and how it helps creating mark making and playing with colors, one of the central focuses of this process. 4-week Expressive Figure Drawing Course (Online), Fall 2025

Expressive Figure Drawing (Online Course) Fall 2025

In this 4 week course, participants will have the opportunity to draw from photo references of nude models, allowing them to closely observe and interpret the complexities of the human form.

Through this process, they will develop a deeper understanding of human anatomy, including the structure and function of muscles, bones, and internal organs, and how these elements contribute to the body’s surface anatomy.

Additionally, participants will explore tonal techniques in drawing to create the illusion of three-dimensionality, enhancing the depth and realism of their figures. They will also study fundamental proportional relationships of the human body, gaining insight into how different parts of the figure relate to one another.

An essential aspect of the course will be understanding the role of perspective in figure drawing, how the body appears in space and how foreshortening impacts visual perception.

Finally, participants will practice quick gesture drawings and rapid sketches to refine their line work, improve their observational skills, and capture the essence of movement and posture efficiently.
